Dance Marathon

Dance Marathon

At a young age, Katlyn Kamminga parents found out their daughter had leukemia. They then had to decide on what hospital to go to for treatment and they chose Riley’s. Katlyn went into Riley’s November and by December she was cancer free and is now 9 years’ cancer free. One event State has had since 2010 is Dance Marathon hosted by StateDM. It is a 12-hour event in which students remain standing and dancing in order to raise funds and awareness for Riley Hospital for Children. Having the support of campus entities, staff, faculty and students help raise money and awareness for Riley. All of the money raised goes to Riley to make an impact on kids who are in the same shoes Katlyn Kamminga was. For Katlyn and others, it’s all about giving back to the kids at Riley.
